PRESS RELEASE

The Columbia County Board of Commissioners signed Resolution #25-2020 on March 13, 2020 that declares a local state of emergency within Columbia County due to COVID-19. The following Resolution #25-2020 measures take effect immediately and shall remain in effect until August 13, 2020, but are subject to change as the situation evolves. The resolution may also be extended thereafter by a vote of the Board of Commissioners.

The Columbia County Commissioners are committed to making every effort to stop and prevent the spread of the virus to our citizens. In that endeavor, we will be closing Columbia County offices in the courthouse to walk-in traffic and will be open by appointment only beginning Mon., March 23, 2020.

We encourage you to begin scheduling appointments in preparation for the closure now.

We also recommend that all of our citizens practice personal responsibility in following the CDC’s recommended social distancing guidelines, and try to limit their public exposure to gatherings of ten people or less. We encourage everyone in the days ahead to conduct as much business as possible online and by phone.

Members of the public who need to access the courthouse shall use the Main entrance.     Handicapped access to the courthouse remains available. You are encouraged to utilize online services where applicable at columbiacountyor.gov.

County staff will move forward following Gov. Kate Brown’s current recommendations, and are currently working to reorganize our administrative processes to keep in line with best practices around social distancing.
